Red Mango opened its first store in the United States in July 2007 in Los Angeles, California (Westwood Village near UCLA). The company's first store in Washington State opened in October 2007 in Bellevue Square. The company currently has over 70 locations.
Yul Kwon, winner of a season of the Survivor reality series, opened a Red Mango in Palo Alto, California.
The company, which currently has USA offices in California, Dallas, Texas and New York, New York, raised $12 million in private equity financing in August 2008 and moved its headquarters from Sherman Oaks, CA to Dallas, TX in early May 2009.
Daniel J. Kim is the founder, president and CEO of Red Mango, Inc.. He is a graduate of UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business and is an alumnus of Delta Sigma Pi, Rho Chapter. He is a former investment banker.
The company's investors and advisors include John Antioco (former CEO and Chairman of Blockbuster Inc.), Dallas-based private equity firm CIC Partners, movie producer John Davis who is the son of Marvin Davis, movie producer Roy Lee, and Stone Canyon Venture Partners.
Red Mango's frozen yogurt is offered in a variety of flavors. In November 2008, Red Mango launched its Pomegranate by POM Wonderful frozen yogurt flavor, which resulted from the company's partnership with the POM Wonderful company. In May 2009, Red Mango launched its "Tangomonium" flavor, which according to the company's website, was invented by President & CEO Daniel J. Kim. Since then, a limited-edition flavor, Pumpkin Spice, was introduced during the 2009 holiday season. Currently, the company's lineup of frozen yogurt flavors consists of Original, Pomegranate, Limemonium, Tangomonium, and the new, limited-edition Madagascar Vanilla flavor. A line of three Probiotic Iced Teas was released in summer 2009, and a line of 22 smoothies was released in summer 2010.
